WIC Tip #1 - Crushed Tomatoes



Crushed tomatoes are our #1 purchase with our fruit and vegetable WIC voucher. This is why:

- They're incredibly versatile and are often the cornerstone for entire meals - soups, pasta sauce, or pizza sauce.

- Picky toddlers will eat them as a vegetable. At least mine will. Sure, they're not as nutritionally awesome as other veggies, but it's better than macaroni or chicken tenders.

- They have a set price, so it's easier to figure out when you're approaching the $6 or $10 limit on your check.

- They're CHEAP! Almost always under $2 for a 28 ounce can, but my local Market Basket's store brand is always $.99-$1.19. This means very, very cheap, healthy meals, and that's always the goal.
